SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION POLICY

VE TRAVEL SERVICE  SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION POLICY

  1. 1.      Introduction

VE Travel Service recognizes the importance of sustainable tourism and is committed to minimizing the environmental impact of our operations. This policy outlines our approach to transportation, specifically addressing the challenges and opportunities for sustainable practices in Egypt.

  1. 2.      Challenges of Sustainable Transportation in Egypt

While Egypt possesses numerous attractions for tourists, offering universally accessible and truly sustainable transportation options presents several significant challenges.

  • Limited Public Transportation Infrastructure: While public transportation options exist, such as trains and buses, their coverage and frequency are often inadequate to meet the demands of tourists, particularly in remote areas and for accessing specific attractions.
  • Dependence on Private Vehicle Use: A strong reliance on private vehicle use, exacerbated by limited and often unreliable public transportation, makes it difficult to promote sustainable alternatives for tourists.
  • Lack of Dedicated Infrastructure for Sustainable Modes: Limited availability and accessibility of infrastructure for cycling, walking, and other non-motorized forms of transportation pose significant barriers to their adoption by tourists.
  • Economic Factors: Investing in and maintaining sustainable transportation infrastructure, such as electric vehicle charging stations or dedicated cycling lanes, requires significant financial resources and may not always be economically feasible.
  • Cultural and Social Factors: Tourist expectations and preferences often prioritize convenience and speed, which may not always align with the slower pace and potential limitations of sustainable transportation options.

  1. 3.      Objectives

Despite these challenges, VE Travel Services is committed to pursuing the following objectives:

  • Minimize air and noise pollution in tourist areas.
  • Promote the use of the most sustainable transportation options available.
  • Educate our guests and partners about sustainable transportation practices.
  • Support the development of sustainable transportation infrastructure in Egypt.

  1. 4.      Policy Guidelines

To achieve these objectives,] will adhere to the following guidelines:

4.1.  Vehicle Selection and Management

Prioritize Fuel Efficiency: We will prioritize the use of fuel-efficient vehicles in our fleet and encourage our partners to do the same.

Regular Maintenance: We will ensure that all vehicles are well-maintained to optimize fuel efficiency and minimize emissions.

Fleet Optimization: We will optimize vehicle routing and scheduling to reduce unnecessary mileage and fuel consumption and commit to use the appropriate vehicle sizes for guest numbers.

4.2.  Promoting Alternative Transportation

  • Promote ground transport over air transport for short-haul travel destinations.
  • Promote alternative tour packages where same attractions can be visited by car or train instead of airplanes.
  • We will encourage the use of more sustainable vessels on the Nile River, and work with boat operators to minimize pollution.

  1. 5.      Continuous Improvement

VE Travel Services is committed to continuous improvement in our pursuit of sustainable transportation. We will actively seek out new technologies, best practices, and opportunities to enhance the sustainability of our operations.

  1. 6.      Communication

This policy will be communicated to our staff, partners, and guests and will be made available on our website.
